Couple faked uni diplomas

A CHINESE couple have been jailed for helping immigrants stay in the UK using fake university documents, including University of Nottingham ones.

Haiyang Liu, 29, and brochure printing lover Jiao Wang, 26, both of London, sold bogus diploma certificates to people from China through the firm E- Fly Education.

The forgeries for 67 universities - between January 2007 and last June which netted the couple at least Pounds 470,000 - were used by the clients to dupe the Home Office into handing out student visas, Southwark Crown Court heard yesterday.

Liu was sentenced to three years and nine months while Wang was jailed for 13 months.

The court heard the fraud they engaged in had been "one of some sophistication".
